RESOLVING PTSD
STEMMING FROM SINGLE EVENT
IN ONE DAY
A well-established but not well-known modality of psychotherapy called "Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT™)" developed by Steven Vazquez, PhD, LPC-S, LMFT, allows an extensively trained ETT™ specialist to stimulate a client's brain with color and light during the therapeutic dialogue in such a way that insight, relief from distress and permanent healing can be accomplished in minutes vs. months. With roots in the theory of NLP (Neuro-Lingustic Programming) and techniques evolved far beyond EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), ETT™ feels like a miracle to victims of single-event trauma such as rape, assault, car accidents and the witnessing of a horrible event insomuch as full and permanent relief from the distress of those types of isolated experiences can be achieved within one extended session.
First, the INTERVIEW, providing time for the client to grow comfortable with the therapist while discussing background and the symptoms of PTSD: Simple type (stemming from a single, traumatic event), Complex type (stemming from multiple and/or repeated events) or other distress resulting from a different condition all together. Information gathered during the free phone consultation and from a background form completed in advance will have already formed the basis of a prescreening that strongly suggests a diagnosis of Simple PTSD, treatable in one extended session.
Then, TREATMENT (usually 60-90 minutes): While seated comfortably, the client is given a special pair of goggles to wear that will allow the therapist to limit the brain's stimulation from natural light. During this time, the therapist will engage with the client in therapeutic dialogue, listening and guiding responses, along with redirecting the light, to help the brain create new neural pathways related to recall of the trauma. At the conclusion of treatment, 100% of clients are helped through this protocol and 96% experience full resolution, i.e. an ability to recall the trauma and function normally, completely free of distress.
Finally, FOLLOW-UP: An opportunity is provided to adjust to the significantly different life clients are now free to live. Brief journaling is often recommended to help the client orient to being in the world without the learned need for fear, hypervigilance and distress. Clients often find themselves in a state of disbelief and, so, the journey begins during follow-up to test and confirm the gift of true liberation from a traumatic event that was hijacking the client's life.
For about the same cost as a car repair ($500), the agony and expense of months (if not years) of therapy can be avoided in one day and precious time given to resuming the kind of joyful and inspired life everyone is entitled to have. Further follow-up and ETT™-informed therapy for Complex PTSD and other disorders such as depression and anxiety are available at $120. per hour.
Unjust, unavoidable and horrific harm can befall each of us but it need not be given control of our emotions and souls.
